The historic artist community of Dunmoochin, founded by Clifton Pugh in 1951, is one of only three artists' colonies established in Victoria in the last century, alongside Montsalvat and Heide. Nestled within a diverse and vibrant landscape, Dunmoochin has long been a place where artists, inspired by their surroundings, have created works that have significantly shaped Australia's cultural history.

Renowned for its connecction to some of Australia's most celebrated artists, such as Pugh, Fred Williams and Mirka Mora, the residency continues to foster creativity. Today, painters, sculptors, writers, book and print makers, ceramists, and botanical enthusiasts call Dunmoochin home, carrying forward the spirit of artist collaboration inspired by the natural environment.

The artist’s studios will open to the public over the Open Studio weekends, offering insight into their creative processes and the enduring legacy of Dunmoochin within Australia's artistic landscape.
